Fizz Words is an underwater word game for Android developed by Endtres. This privacy policy explains what information is handled when you play, and by whom. In short: the game keeps your scores and settings on your device, shows ads from Google AdMob, which collects some information from your device to show and measure them, and offers an optional online leaderboard, run on Google Firebase, where the name you choose, your best scores and your best words are shown to other players.
Fizz Words has no accounts of its own, and never asks for your email address, your real name or any other contact details. You can play every part of the game without joining the leaderboard.
The game stores the following on your device:
Apart from what you choose to share on the leaderboard (below), none of this is sent to us or to anyone else. If Android backup is turned on, Android may include it in your device's backup to your Google account, as it does for most apps. That backup is handled by Google, and we cannot see it.
The leaderboard has a league for each language. It is optional: nothing about you is added to it unless you choose a name and join. To run it, the game uses Google Firebase: Firebase Authentication gives your copy of the game a random player ID (no email, password or sign-in needed), and Cloud Firestore stores the leagues, on Google's servers in Johannesburg, South Africa.
When you join, the following is stored for each language you have a score in:
Your name, best scores and best words are public: anyone who plays Fizz Words can see them in the leaderboard. Please don't use your full name or any other personal information as your leaderboard name. Names are checked against a list of offensive words, and players can report a name they find offensive. A report stores the reported player's ID and name, the reporting player's ID, and the time, so that we can review it and remove the name if needed.
To keep the leaderboard fair, the game also uses Firebase App Check with Google Play Integrity, which checks that the game talking to the leaderboard is the genuine Fizz Words from Google Play, on a genuine device. Google carries out this check; we only learn whether it passed.
When the game connects to Firebase, Google necessarily receives technical information such as your IP address and basic details about your device and the app. Firebase handles this under Google's own privacy policy and terms, and may process it outside your country: https://firebase.google.com/support/privacy
Fizz Words shows an ad between rounds, unless you have bought "Remove ads". These ads are provided by Google AdMob. To show ads, limit how often you see the same one, measure how they perform and prevent fraud, AdMob collects information from your device, which may include:
On devices that support them, AdMob may also use Android's own advertising features (the Privacy Sandbox, including Topics and Attribution).
This information goes directly from your device to Google, over encrypted connections, and is handled under Google's own privacy policy. We do not receive it on any server of ours: AdMob gives us only overall reports, such as how many ads were shown and what they earned.
Consent. Where the law requires it, including in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, the game asks for your choice through Google's consent form before any ad is requested. You can change your choice at any time in the game, under Credits → Ad privacy choices.
Advertising ID. You can reset or delete your device's Advertising ID, or opt out of personalised ads, in your device's settings (usually Settings → Google → Ads, or Settings → Privacy → Ads on some devices).
No ads at all. The one-time "Remove ads" purchase turns off the ads between rounds for good.
If you buy "Remove ads", the payment is handled entirely by Google Play under Google's terms. We never see your card or other payment details. The game records on your device that you have bought it, and Google Play restores it if you reinstall the game.
Fizz Words asks for no permissions that need your approval. It uses internet access (for ads, purchases and the leaderboard), Google Play billing (for "Remove ads") and the Advertising ID (for ads). It does not access your precise location, contacts, camera, microphone, photos or files.
Fizz Words is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information through the app, such as a real name on the leaderboard, please contact us so we can remove it.
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected by the "last updated" date at the top of this page.
